Banners produced as a result of working with women from the Pilion Trust and Hillcroft Women’s College as a commissioned artist for the Processions project.

Processions was a mass participatory art project that culminated in a march in June 2018, to celebrate the centenary since women got the vote.

A collaborative approach to the conception of the work with women from the Pilion inspired conversations about the nature of this ‘celebration’, with questions about the intersectional nature of radical 4th wave feminism foregrounding concerns that ‘celebrating’ may not be an appropriate response when not all women have the vote across the rest of the world.

The decision was taken to use the available platform to highlight some of the contemporary issues faced by women of different faiths and ethnicities in the UK and abroad, and communicate the feeling of the group that much remains to be done in the fight for equality.
