For The Relics is a meditation on the case of Salvesen v Riddle [2013] that was rewritten for the Scottish Feminist Judgments Project by Professor Aileen McHarg. The original ruling of the case resulted in the farmer at the heart of the dispute dying from suicide before a decision about his ancestral property was reached. For The Relics seeks to create a space for secluded introspection. The immersive installation invites the viewer to step inside, have a seat and take a moment to contemplate the lives impacted by legal decision making. The structure, with its gauze-like membrane, is a space designed to replicate the healing magic of religious ritual and hopes to evoke church confessional booths or the Kaaba in Mecca.
